12月5日、今日も京都は朝からとても冷える一日でした。さすがにダウンジャケットなしでは凍えてしまいそうな寒さです。そんな中、昼過ぎから太秦方面へ紅葉の写真を撮りに出かけてきました。その途中で小腹がすき、ちょっと寄り道して和菓子屋さんへ。向かったのは「うずまさふたば」さん。ここは知る人ぞ知る人気店で、東映撮影所の真正面という立地から、時代劇の俳優さんたちにも愛されているお店です。

店頭には「うっかり八べえのだんご」「助さんのわらびもち」「袖の下喜三郎もなか」など、時代劇にちなんだ名前の和菓子がずらり。眺めているだけでも楽しいんですよね。俳優さんの“推し饅頭”などの紹介も貼ってあり、思わずじっくり見入ってしまいます。お店の一番人気は大きな黒豆がどっさり入った豆大福で、午前中に売り切れることも。

ちなみに今日、私がいただいたのはフルーツ大福。ラフランス・みかん・葡萄など種類がいろいろあり、今回はシャインマスカットをチョイス。イートインはないので、近くの公園でパクリと一口。本当においしかったです。

December 5 — A Cold Morning in Kyoto and a Sweet Detour in Uzumasa

Today, Kyoto woke up to another bitterly cold morning. It felt impossible to step outside without a down jacket. Even so, I headed toward the Uzumasa area after noon to take some late-autumn foliage photos. On the way, I started feeling a bit hungry and decided to make a quick stop at a wagashi shop.

The place I went to is Uzumasa Futaba, a well-loved local favorite. Located directly across from the Toei Kyoto Studio Park, it’s known as a go-to spot for actors from period dramas.

At the storefront, you’ll find treats with charming, drama-themed names such as “Ukkari Hachibē Dango,” “Sukesan Warabi-mochi,” and “Sodenoshita Kisaburō Monaka.” Just browsing the display is a delight. There are even posters showing which sweets certain actors recommend, and I couldn’t help but linger and read them. Their most popular item is the mame-daifuku packed with big black soybeans—so popular that it often sells out by late morning.

As for today, I chose one of their fruit daifuku. They offer several varieties—La France pear, mandarin orange, grape, and more—and I went with Shine Muscat. Since there’s no eat-in space, I enjoyed it in a nearby park. It was absolutely delicious.
